LoCash Promise Fun Times at Taste of Country Festival, Country Jam Appearances

LoCash are among the acts slated for this year's Country Jam and Taste of Country Music festivals, and they promise their fans a good time — even if their sets are sometimes in the middle of the day.

"No matter what time of the day we hit the stage, it's going to be fun," Preston Brust tells us. "It's going to be on, it's going to be fun, it's going to be turned up, and we’re going to have our hands in the air, and that's just what we're known for."

The duo of Brust and Chris Lucas have written several hits for other artists, including Keith Urban's "You Gonna Fly" and "Truck Yeah" for Tim McGraw. Both of those artists are booked for both ToC Fest and Country Jam, but LoCash's own live sets are chock-full of up-tempo, feel-good songs, too.

"We're known for a high-energy, wild show, and sometimes on the festival lineups, you start with your headliners going on at, like, 9 o'clock or 10 o'clock or whatever, and then you back it up throughout the day, and sometimes we're going on at 2, 3, 4, 5 o'clock in the afternoon," Brust says. "We don't have all the lights, we don't have all the smoke, all that kind of stuff, we just come out, man, and we're on fire. I just want to let everybody know, get out there early, because we're going to have a party. It's going to be fun."

Those kinds of rowdy festival crowds are a far cry from the duo's early touring days, when they hit the road in a Jeep Grand Cherokee, playing wherever they could. They were pulling a U-Haul they had borrowed from an acquaintance, which wound up not being such a great idea.

"Turns out, it was stolen, and we were driving around the country with a stolen U-Haul," Brust recalls, laughing. "It was crazy, and we didn't even know it until we got a blowout and somebody came to help us and they were like, 'Uh, yeah, this U-Haul's stolen.' And we were like, 'We promise, we didn't steal it, we just borrowed it!' That's really not an easy situation to get out of, you know?"

They've built their audience through hard touring over the years, and Brust is grateful to in the position of playing to such large and appreciative crowds.

"It's crazy to stand on some of these festival stages now where there's 15,000 people out there, it's just wow, it blows my mind," he admits. "But we've watched it grow from four people to 40 to 400 to 4,000 to 15,000, you know what I mean? It's been amazing."

The 2015 Taste of Country Music Festival is set for June 12-14 at Hunter Mountain in New York, and Country Jam takes place June 18-21 in Grand Junction, Colo.
