State Senator Tom Libous says the senate passed legislation this week that would protect providers of services for the developmentally disabled from state funding cuts.

The bill would appropriate up to $90 million to the office for people with developmental disabilities to protect providers from funding reductions.

Libous says the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities faced sweeping cuts this year that would impact local providers such as Achieve, Handicapped Children's Association and Chenango County Arc. The bill has also been passed by the assembly and will be sent to the governor for his consideration
