A Laurens man recently released from jail under New York State's newly-implemented bail reform law is back behind bars for stealing a truck. According to the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office, 39-year-old James C. Sitts was released on New Year’s Eve after being held on a burglary charge. Following his release, he then took a truck in Laurens and ended up abandoning it elsewhere in the town. An investigation resulted in Sitts being taken into custody last Friday and he now faces two felony counts for which he’s being held without bail.
