Investigators from New York State are looking into the death of an inmate at the Otsego County Jail on Saturday, June 19, according to AllOTSEGO. On that date, an inmate whose name was not released was found by a corrections officer that morning at 11:15 am and was unresponsive.

After failed life-saving measures were enacted by officers on hand, the inmate was pronounced dead that day at 1:00 pm after being transported to Bassett Medical Center.

The NYS Commission of Correction as well as the NYS Attorney General’s Office is looking into the death which appears to be a suicide. The Otsego County Sheriff's Office is providing full cooperation as the investigation unfolds.
