Our good friend Dave Mattice, who has been a National Weather Service observer for more than three decades, gave me an interesting factoid the other day.

The hottest day ever recorded in the continental United States for the month of January was 98-degrees on January 17, 1954 in Laredo, Texas.  The coldest day in January ever was -70 degrees registered in Rogers Pass, Montana on January 20, 1954.

Three days apart and the temperature swung 168-degrees in the country.  I love that factoid.

Join Dave as I host him on next Saturday's (Jan. 12) edition of This Week in Central New York on all of our radio stations at 7:00 am.  Dave gives us a review of the weather of last year, and he has several other juicy weather factoids to share with us!
