May 16, 1966 the world welcomed Darius Rucker.  Now a big country music star, Rucker first became known as lead singer and rhythm guitarist of the rock/pop band Hootie and The Blowfish.  The band was formed in 1986 at University of South Carolina, recorded five studio albums, and had six Top 40 Billboard hits including, "I Only Wanna Be With You" and "Hold My Hand".

Rucker is currently a very successful country star with several hits, such as, "This", "Come Back Song" and "Alright".  His first country single, "Don't Think I Don' t Think About It", made him the first African American to hit number one on the country charts since Charlie Pride in 1983.
