New York State Senator Fred Akshar has announced an allocation of $10,000 in state funding to the Mothers and Babies Perinatal Network of South Central New York. According to Akshar's office, the money will help families from Broome, Chenango, Chemung, Cortland, Delaware, Otsego, Tioga and Tompkins counties get health insurance, pay for prescriptions and support other family-oriented programs. Akshar says the funding for the initiative was secured in the 2017-2018 state budget and will be administered through the New York State Department of Health.
