‘Glee’ Cast Pays Tribute to Cory Monteith on Second Anniversary of His Death
Today (July 13) marks two years since the death of Cory Monteith, and his former Glee co-stars have posted various tributes online to honor the late actor.
Lea Michele, Monteith's girlfriend at the time of his death, posted what appears to be a personal photo of Monteith on Twitter, writing, "Today we remember the laughter and joy you brought into our lives every day. We think of you always and love you so."
Since Monteith's passing, Michele has spoken openly about his death and the way she's chosen to remember him. During an interview with Seventeen in 2014 she said, "I only have happy memories of Cory. He was not his addiction—unfortunately, it won. But that wasn't who he was. Cory made me feel like a queen every day. From the minute he said, 'I'm your boyfriend,' I loved every day, and I thank him for being the best boyfriend and making me feel so beautiful."
Other Glee cast members such as Kevin McHale, Mark Salling, Jenna Ushkowitz and Harry Shum Jr. also paid tribute to Monteith online, uploading photos and videos to various social media sites to express their loss. You can check out some of their posts below
Monteith was found dead on July 13, 2013, in a hotel room in Vancouver, Canada, from a drug overdose, officially cited as "mixed drug toxicity, involving intravenous heroin use combined with the ingestion of alcohol." Sadly, his death came less than two months after he completed a stint at rehab where checked himself in voluntarily. He was 31-years-old.
