Fire Devastates Westville Home
A structure fire at 2661 County Rte. 35 in the hamlet of Westville, devastated a home on Sunday as the fire was fanned by brisk winds. No one was at home when the fire broke out but a cat and some baby chicks are thought to have perished in the blaze. The fire was reported about an hour after it had started by the occupants who arrived back at home to see the fire in progress. Several fire companies worked together to battle the blaze: The Milford Fire Department, Cherry Valley, Middlefield, Westford, Schenevus, Cooperstown, Hartwick, Hartwick Seminary, Mount Vision and Laurens. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
