It's been a 'ruff' 24 hours for Rookie, the bat dog of the Buffalo Bisons minor league baseball team.

Sahlen Field has seen it all this season. It played host to a Major League Baseball team, the Toronto Blue Jays, for the majority of the summer. It faced weather and flood damage during the torrential downpours we all experienced earlier this summer. Yet, possibly the most bizarre situation of them all unfolded on the field last night. Wanting to get in on the game action, Rookie the Bat Dog took off, and hilarity began to ensue.

It was in this debut that Rookie got a bit too excited, running onto the field during Toronto Blue Jays' prospect Cavan Biggio's at-bat. Clearly, Rookie felt bad about the blunder, taking to Twitter to apologize to the Bisons' infielder.

Rookie was not immediately available for comment. Apparently, I was barking up the wrong tree by asking.
