‘Big Hero 6′ Poster Jets In, Plus Watch Teaser for First Trailer
When Disney acquired Marvel, it was only a matter of time before the animated movies started coming. However, no one expected the first Disney-animated Marvel venture to be 'Big Hero 6,' which brings one of the most obscure superhero teams in comic book history to the big screen. The first trailer for the film arrives tomorrow, but to prepare for the big reveal, a poster and a brief teaser have made their way online.
The 'Big Hero 6' poster, which humorously depicts (or rather, doesn't depict) a child genius and his robot, is quietly cute and whimsical, already suggesting something that falls somewhere between 'The Incredibles' and 'The Iron Giant.' The teaser somehow manages to offer even less information, giving us our first look at the character of Hiro Hamada and nothing else. In other words, there's not much here, but considering how quiet this film has been on a marketing level, it's interesting to finally see something.
From the official synopsis:
From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes 'Big Hero 6,' an action comedy adventure about brilliant robotics prodigy Hiro Hamada, who finds himself in the grips of a criminal plot that threatens to destroy the fast-paced, high-tech city of San Fransokyo. With the help of his closest companion—a robot named Baymax—Hiro joins forces with a reluctant team of first-time crime fighters on a mission to save their city.
It's interesting that the poster name-drops 'Wreck-It Ralph' and 'Frozen,' but Marvel doesn't even get a mention. 'Big Hero 6' is obviously not a part of the live-action Marvel Cinematic Universe, but you'd think they'd double down on that iconic name.
'Big Hero 6' blasts into theaters on November 7, 2014, and the you can check back here tomorrow, Thursday, May 22, at 9 am PST/12 pm EST to see the first trailer.
