‘Anchorman 2′ Returning to Theaters With More Than 700 New Jokes
Just in case they didn't wear you out throughout 2013 with their ceaseless promos and surprise appearances, the cast of 'Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues' will be returning to theaters on Feb. 28. And apparently they have 763 new jokes to share with you.
Back when the movie came out a couple months ago, director Adam McKay and star Will Ferrell hinted that they had shot so much material, they were thinking about releasing an alternate version of the film with all the leftover jokes.
Looks like they weren't kidding. You can watch the official trailer above.
Now, if we were the cynical type, we'd say something like, Why didn't they just take the best of those thousand or whatever jokes and edit them down to a better movie the first time around?
But seeing that this reconfigured 'Anchorman 2' will get an R rating (the one you saw two months ago was rated PG-13), maybe this is the movie they wanted to make all along before the studio insisted on a softer cut to draw in preteen audiences during the crucial holiday-season release.
Then again, this extended scene featuring Ron Burgundy, his news team and a crack pipe is hardly worth the effort of sitting through the movie again for another two hours. But make up your mind -- the new version of 'Anchorman 2' will be in theaters for only a week before, presumably, it hits all forms of home video with 700 more new jokes.
