5 Life Hacks and Things You Didn’t Know You Were Doing Wrong
A Reddit thread blew up recently, asking people about some things they realized they've done wrong all these years. Some of these fit a little more in the "Life hack" category.
u/slart_n asked Reddit users, "What everyday activity did you do wrong for years, before someone finally showed you an important trick?"
Some of the answers are laughable as if you think "Wow, you didn't know that?" And others are a little mind-blowing.
Remember, we're all in this life thing together, so whatever tips we can use to make it easier, we should share.
For example, Hairball figured out that if you eat Cup Noodles and you don't want to wait for the water to boil and then wait for the noodles to cook, you can just toss the cup under your Keurig and hit the big cup button. It'll spit out exactly the amount you need to eat.
5. Celery
U/JoeC_95123 said "Not an everyday activity, but someone showed me I'd been wasting celery for years. When it goes limp and loses its crunch, you can just soak it in water overnight, and it makes it crisp again."
4. Typing On A Phone
u/UnfairMicrowave had a hack that some of us know, but many of us seem to not. "Sliding your thumb on the spacebar of your phone will move the cursor."
3. Opening A Can of Pop (or Beer)
It's super annoying when your nails are short and you can't get a can open. Well, there's a built-in helper with the cans.
"Opening a beverage can. I keep my fingernails very short and sometimes it would be a bit finicky to open the tab on a can," u/funklab said. "I was damn near 40 years old when my buddy showed me you’re supposed to push down on the hinge portion of the tab with your thumb to raise the other edge of the tab so you can get your finger under it. I felt like an idiot."
2. After-Shower Toweling
When you get out of the shower and wrap the towel around yourself, you usually can only get a few steps in before that thing falls off. Well, there's an easier way.
"How to properly secure a towel around the waist after a shower. Instead of tucking the hem inwards, you fold it outwards and down, much more secure, you can like, run around and not worry about it falling off," u/archetype1 typed.
1. Trash Bags
Trash bags can be a battle to get inside of your trash can, but one TikTok user showed off a fancy way to get the bag inside. You don't parachute the bag out, you actually put the bag on like a hat for the trash can, then slide your hand in the bag to shove it down in the can.
