1983 Michael Jackson Hit Number One For Seven Weeks [Video]
Today in music history, we go back to 1983 when wearing one glove and sparkly socks was the cool thing to do. If you had the red leather jacket with all the zippers, then there was no denying you were a major fan of Michael Jackson. Thriller was a huge album for Jackson, selling over 50 million copies. Today we spotlight a single from that album that was a number one single for seven weeks.
"Billie Jean" climbed to number one on the U.S. single chart on March 5, 1983. Although the album produced two other number one hits, "Beat It" and "Say, Say, Say" (with Paul McCartney), "Billie Jean" was the longest running number one single.
