Summer in Chenango County means music in the park and tonight the Chenango County Blues Association kicks off its summer concert series on the stage in East Side park in downtown Norwich. Blues Association member Eric Larson says tonights concert is going to bring out the fans in huge numbers.

"The New Riders of the Purple Sage have played for us several years running now and typically we don't have repeats so we can have a lot of variety, but they have such a dedicated fan base and the shows have been so great and every year more and more people come, so we're going with the popular vote and bringing them back again," Larson said. "They always have great shows. I talked to real fans of the group who say this is something they target as the show to go to on the summer tour."

The New Riders of the Purple Sage are just one of the great groups to perform at the Thursday night concert series. Along with other popular groups, concert goers will get to see the new Glenn Miller Orchestra again. The last time they were here it was so hot outside, that many of the bands older fans did not brave the extreme heat. This time they will be on the new stage in East Side Park. The first in the Thursday evening concerts in the park is tonight at 7 p.m. when the New Riders of the Purple Sage take the stage. The corporate sponsor of the series is NBT Bank.
