Will Ferrell & Chad Smith Joined by Red Hot Chili Peppers During Drum-Off on ‘The Tonight Show’ [VIDEOS]
If you didn't stay awake to watch the drum-off, between Will Ferrell and Chad Smith, on 'The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,' then you missed one of the greatest nights in late-night history.
For years, Ferrell and Smith (drummer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers) had been the center of an epic doppelganger conversation, as the two look exactly alike. Well, Ferrell took to the internet in February claiming he was Smith. Then Smith followed by challenging Ferrell to a drum-off to determine who the identity of the real Chad Smith. The challenge then turned into a charitable event as the two have been raising money for the charitable organizations Cancer for College and Little Kids Rock leading up to the drum battle.
That all brings us up to last night (5/22) when the lookalikes joined Jimmy Fallon on 'The Tonight Show' for the drum-off. The duo even dressed exactly alike, wearing matching black leather jackets, Kiss T-shirts, sneakers and blue baseball caps worn backwards. During the interview segment, they even spoke as the other person.
After time on the couch chatting with Fallon, the two finally took to their sets. It was an epic battle, back and forth, when finally Ferrell broke out his famous cowbell. At that point the duel was over as there's no way of overcoming a blow like that. The next thing you know, the Red Hot Chili Peppers joined Ferrell and Smith on stage to close out the segment with a cover of 'Don't Fear the Reaper.'
The Red Hot Chili Peppers later returned to perform a cover of Funkadelic's 1974 track 'Standing on the Verge of Getting It On' and their hit 'Give It Away,' along with The Roots.
