Whooping Cough Found At Oneonta High School
Officials at Oneonta High School notified parents that there are six cases of whooping cough (pertussis) at the high school, according to a news release posted on the district’s website. The school nurse identified the virus and reported it to school officials and the Otsego County Health Department. Pertussis is an infection that infects the airways and can be spread by coughing or sneezing. If someone does have whooping cough doctors recommend everyone within that household be treated with an antibiotic.
