Weather Services Says Tornado Did Not Occur in Sidney
According to the City of Norwich Emergency Management Office, the National Weather Service storm survey determined that downburst winds are to blame for the damage in Sidney yesterday, not a tornado as was locally suspected.
Photographs (see left and below) indicated swirling clouds and a possible funnel cloud, but the weather service survey crew that examined the damage on the ground say it was consistent with downburst winds and not a tornado.
The team will have a detailed report once they've complete a full survey of the area.
