WATCH: Showering of Love for Man Discharged From UHS Chenango Memorial COVID Unit
My mom was a product of the 1960s and introduced me to music from artists such as Bread, Ottis Redding, and to Jackie DeShannon.
You might not recognize the name Jackie DeShannon right away, but you've probably heard her song "What The World Needs Now Is Love" a time or two in a movie or a commercial. The song lyrics read, " What the world needs now is love, sweet love. It's the only thing that there's just too little of. What the world needs now is love, sweet love. No, not just for some but for everyone."
The song might have come out in 1965 but the words are timeless and true. The world really does need more love right this minute. What the world also needs is more celebrations. Celebrations of small accomplishments and of big ones.
On Thursday, April 16, 2020, UHS Chenango Memorial released a video of a man who had spent 13 days fighting for his life in the COVID unit at the hospital being discharged.
I'm guessing that was one of the very best moments of this man's life. The clapping, the cheers, the thumbs up in the air. There are so many emotions packed into 54 seconds. And there is so much love. So much sweet love.
