Walton Central School District's budget woes continue, according to information released by the district yesterday.

A budget workshop planned for yesterday had to be cancelled when ongoing analysis of the district budget raised some questions. The Board of Education decided to reschedule the budget workshop once all the questions had been answered.

The goal of the workshop was to discuss and brainstorm ways to address the projected budget gap of $1.2 million for the 2014-15 school year. Analysis of the proposed budget revealed that $800,000 from the district's savings pool, monies the Board had thought was still available for use, had already been allocated to help fill the funding gap.

The board states that the budget workshop will be scheduled as soon as the full analysis is complete and all numbers verified as accurate.

Board President, Judy Breese, said, "The Board and the administration is currently working to find reductions, hoping for an increase in state aid, looking at our local taxes and tax cap, and speaking with our legislators."
