UPDATE: Skimmer Found At Southside Oneonta Community Bank
New York State Police at Sidney are reporting that a skimmer has been discovered at an ATM machine at the Southside Oneonta branch of Community Bank. It was discovered when the ATM was being repaired.
Skimmers read card account information which is then used to access personal information. Investigators say the suspect installed the skimmer late Friday and while it appears the ATM’s own security may have shut the machine down it’s not clear if account data was compromised so if you did use the ATM check your bank records carefully for unauthorized activity.
A video surveillance camera at the ATM that was compromised, shows an older man, pictured above, placing the skimmer in the machine. If you have any information to share with New York State Police on this case, please call, 607-432-4844.
