New York State Police say a three-year-old girl is dead while two adults and four children are taken to a hospital for care following a single-vehicle crash in Otsego County.

According to accounts furnished by Troop C Headquarters in Sidney, troopers responded to a report of a serious, one-vehicle crash on Frost Hill Road in the Town of Plainfield at around 8:54 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2.

Officers found a 2004 Ford Expedition had left the roadway, hit an embankment and partially overturned.

The authorities say a three-year-old girl sustained life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two adults and four children were taken to Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Utica for medical care.

State Police are identifying the driver of the Ford Sport Utility Vehicle only as a 28-year-old woman.  The passengers were a 42-year-old man, a three-month-old girl, a one-year-old girl, a three-year-old boy and a six-year-old boy.  Investigators say all of the vehicle's occupants are from Rome, New York.

The authorities have not released any of the names or the conditions of the crash survivors at this time.

There were no other vehicles apparently involved and authorities have not provided any suspected contributing factors to the crash such as speed, road conditions or mechanical concerns.

The crash remains under investigation.

A large number of emergency crews responded to the crash scene.

State Police say in addition to Troopers, the Criminal Bureau of Investigation, the Collision Reconstruction Unit, Bridgewater Ambulance, Otsego County Ambulance, West Winfield Ambulance and EMS, Edmeston Ambulance, Unadilla Forks Fire Department and Emergency Squad, Edwards Ambulance, West Edmeston Fire Department, West Winfield Fire Department and the Otsego County Coroner all responded to the scene.
