The year was 1983 and everyone with cable television waited with great anticipation for the new Michael Jackson video to air on MTV.  The self-proclaimed "King of Pop", released what is now regarded as the most influential pop music video of all time.  The fourteen minute music video, "Thriller", aired for the first time on this day in music history.  The video would later become the first music video to be inducted into the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress.
