Wednesday is Wear Purple Day. This is the color that signifies Domestic Violence Awareness.

Megan Stanley, planning and research director at Opportunities for Otsego, says Wear Purple Day is part of Shine the Light on Domestic Violence, a New York State initiative that brings awareness to the community about the issues of domestic violence.

"Locally in the community, we are encouraging businesses to shine purple lights," she said. "We do have purple lights available if people want to access lights from us. We also have purple ribbons we have and are distributing. We also have lawn signs if people want, people can give us a call and we can provide lawn signs to them."
