Taylor Swift Inspires Zendaya, Gwen Stefani + More Celebrities to Send Love to Gravely Ill Fan
Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Kim Kardashian, and more stars are reaching out to a gravely ill woman who was told she had only a few days left to live.
A few weeks ago, a woman of Westchester, New York, named Annie McMahon was placed into hospice following two double lung transplants amid her battle with cystic fibrosis after she was given the devastating news that she be ineligible for a third procedure.
“They told me I had 48 hours to live,” McMahon, an alum of Ursuline School in London, told The Post Friday (June 21). “My friends and family came over. We were all saying our goodbyes, and it was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do.”
In an attempt to bring McMahon to better spirits about her condition, her pals encouraged they make a dance video to Swift’s hit “You Belong With Me.” However, the moment of happiness was short-lived, as the 22-year-old faced the terrifying possibility that she wouldn’t be alive to hear the songbird’s next album.
“I started to cry and I was like, ‘I don’t think I’ll be able to hear the new Taylor Swift CD’,” she continued. “To think that life would go on — and I wouldn’t be a part of it — was really hard.”
Then, the unthinkable happened: Swift gave McMahon a phone call once she caught wind of the clip on social media.
“She was the kindest, sweetest person,” the fan said of Swift, with whom she conversed for about 20 minutes. “It was like we’d been friends for years. At the end of the conversation, she said, ‘Bye, buddy…I want to meet you sometime.’ It was incredible.”
The wave of kindness and support didn’t end with Swift. Stars like Gwen Stefani, Zendaya, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Steve Carrell, and Kacey Musgraves also reached out. (See screenshots here.)
“I was so shocked that people would care about me and take time to do this,” McMahon said in response to the comfort she's received. “I honestly think it’s helped me get better.”
