State Police at Binghamton investigated an industrial accident Monday morning in which a Pa. man was fatally electrocuted while conducting elevated train bridge measurements in the Town of Colesville.
After responding to a burglary in progress at Hogan’s General Store in the Village of Andes, police arrested a 16-year-old male from Margaretville and a 14-year-old male from Andes for one count of 3rd degree burglary and one count of attempted petit larceny.
A three-hour standoff in Cortlandville ended peacefully with the arrest of John K. Downes, 55 of Watertown, on Saturday evening.
State Police received a complaint of an armed man menacing another man around 6 p.m. on Saturday. Police responded to the residence, where they found only Downes inside.
Alexander Vega, 22, of the Bronx, was arrested for allegedly selling heroin in August and September 2011 in the city of Oneonta.
The arrest comes as a result of Operation Dial Tone, which is a joint narcotics investigation into the heroin distribution from the Bronx into Otsego County.

Michael J. Degnan, the 38-year-old man who police sought last week in connection with forcible rape of a 14-year-old female, has been arrested and charged with rape in the first degree.
