Bretagne is the last known surviving search-and-rescue dog to work Ground Zero.

It is one of many stories of heroism. This is the story of a young man who refused to let others around him die without first trying to help them himself. His name is Welles Crowther, and this is his story.

It is the photo that touched the hearts of every parent on the planet and every American in the country. It is of Robert Peraza, a former Norwich resident who lost his son, Robert David Peraza, in the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, the moment he reads the name at the 9/11 Memorial in Manhattan.

This incredible video shows how New York City rebuilt One World Trade Center after the Sept. 11 attacks. The video spans from 2004-13 and shows the rise of the Freedom Tower.

It's been 12 years since terrorists attacks on New  York City shocked the nation. Since then, the city and country has moved forward but never forgotten where it has come.

As of 5:30 pm Monday evening, Verizon personnel have completed temporary repairs to the severed phone line in the Town of Westford.

A year ago my fourth book was published.  This one, published by Syracuse Unviersity Press, is titled "Monumentally New York" and it takes a look at 30 different monuments, statues and memorials found around Upstate New York.  The list covers all elments of Upstate life, from history to entertainment to folklore.

These are the photos that not only help us remember, but help us move on from where we were on Sept. 11 to where we are today, a stronger, better nation.
