Study Reveals Sleep Deprivation Causes Weight Gain
Sleep researchers at the University of Colorado reveal that weight and sleep have an immediate association. Researchers have known for some time that sleep deprivation can cause weight gain and in a recent study it was revealed that this can happen in just over a week. Sixteen healthy men and women were studied over a two week period. The sleep deprived participants burned about one hundred and eleven more calories however they ate much more food than those who got a good night's sleep. The sleep deprived sought carb-rich and fatty foods, plus late night snacking resulting in weight gain. The well rested participants made healthier eating choices.
A good night's rest is so important for our health. Lack of sleep not only effects our weight, but our memory, immune systems, and more.
