September is National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. Shockingly, it is estimated by the American Cancer Society, that in 2013, about 22,240 new cases of ovarian cancer will be diagnosed.  Sadly, it is also estimated at in 2013, about 14,030 women will die of ovarian cancer in the United States.

Be sure to wear the color teal this month to show your support of the women and families who brave this battle.  You can even Take The Teal Challenge and help raise funds for Ovarian Cancer National Alliance's programs.

Of women's cancers, ovarian cancer is one of the most deadly.  Here are the most common symptoms:

  • Bloating
  • Pelvic or abdominal pain
  • Difficulty eating or feeling full quickly
  • Urinary symptoms (urgency or frequency)

Now one of heaven's angels, artist, Michelle MacNaught, from Delhi, NY left a message of hope after losing her own battle, "Can-Cer-Vive".
