New York Senator Chuck Schumer visited Awestruck Cider in Sidney Tuesday afternoon.  Schumer praised the co-founders, Patti Wilcox and Casey Vitti, for their hard work and dedication to their business and patrons.

"These two owners are natives of Delaware County and they have stayed here to flourish and make their home region even better.  They had a passion for their idea, for travel and for their hometown and now, after 5 years, we see their dream come true.,"  Schumer said.

The senator called on the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau to immediately reverse a provision in a proposed rule which would mandate the use of the terms "sparkling" and carbonated" for most New York hard cider products.  Using these terms puts the burgeoning cider industry at a significant disadvantage as they seek to broaden their appeal to consumers.

Among those in attendance were local business representatives and government officials.  Sidney Mayor Andy Matviak officially welcomed the senator back to Sidney.
