As the summer wears on and people continue to gather, you may be wondering what the COVID-19 case numbers are for our tri-county region here in Central New York. Below is a report card of how we're doing when it comes to the spread of the virus.

Looking at COVID-19 case numbers reported by The Otsego County Department of Health (7/24): it's looking like we continue to win the war on the coronavirus. There was 1 new confirmed case Saturday with no current hospitalizations for persons with complications from the virus.  There are currently only 3 known active cases in the county with a total of 63 COVID-19 related deaths. The Health Dept. has a COVID-19 dashboard with daily updates for the latest information.

Vaccine clinic for anyone 12 and older:
This first dose of the Pfizer vaccine clinic will be held this Wednesday, July 29 from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm at the Meadows Office Complex just outside of Cooperstown. Delaware County Health officials have an update from the week ending 7/22 (updates are once per week), reporting 8 new cases for the week 7/15 - 7/22. For that week it was reported that there were 9 active cases and no people hospitalized. The total number of deaths related to coronavirus complications is 52. Delaware County Public Health is conducting a weekly single dose Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) COVID-19 vaccination clinic every Wednesday at the Delhi Farmer's Market, in front of the health department offices at 99 Main St., Delhi from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. This vaccination clinic is open to all New York state residents or people who work in New York State 18 or older. In Chenango County, the health department reported on Tuesday, July 20, that at that time, there were 6 active cases in the county with 1 hospitalization, and a total of 77 deaths related to the virus.

The Chenango County Health Department now has COVID-19 vaccinations in their clinics and appointments are required. Anyone aged 12 and older in New York State is eligible to receive the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. For those age 18 and older, there's a choice to receive the Johnson & Johnson/Janssen single-dose, Moderna, and Pfizer vaccine. When scheduling an appointment for a clinic, check the type of vaccine being administered at that clinic for anyone under 18 years of age.
