The search for a new Oneonta city clerk is moving right along. Mayor Dick Miller says roughly 23 candidates have applied for this position.

"At least six we consider to be excellent, all of whom live in the city, which is important because by New York State law they have to," Miller said. "It's good that we have local candidates and we're going to start interviews early next week. I hope we will have a decision by the end of June."

After more than 20 years on the job, Jim Koury announced in May that he was leaving his position of city clerk. Koury will depart July 12 for a planned vacation, and when Koury returns he will make himself available to help the new city clerk when needed.
