Superstorm Sandy severely damaged the Statue of Liberty national monument, which remains closed more than three months after the storm struck, with no estimated re-opening date.

U.S. Senator Charles Schumer on Tuesday called on the Department of Interior for a hard and fast timeline of when repairs will be made to the Statue of Liberty, including an estimated re-opening date.

Schumer said that the department done an impressive job repairing its properties across the region in the wake of the storm. A timeline for reopening the statue would help visitors plan trips to New York City and provide certainty to business dependent on it.
