Dr. Carlton Rule has informed hospital leadership, staff and the boards of trustees of his decision to step down as CEO of O’Connor Hospital in Delhi and Tri-Town Regional Hospital (TRH) in Sidney effective March 1, 2017, to pursue a professional opportunity in the Capital Region. Rule, who has served the past two years as CEO of O’Connor and TRH, both part of Bassett Healthcare Network, has accepted the position of Vice President and Executive Director of Ellis Medical Group in Schenectady.

Bassett Healthcare Network President and CEO Vance M. Brown, MD, said, “We thank Dr. Rule for his years of service to patients and the network and wish him well in his new position at Ellis. Over the next few months, network executive leaders will work with the hospitals’ boards of trustees to develop a succession plan for the leadership of O’Connor and TRH.”

Rule, who has been a family medicine physician for 23 years, joined Bassett in 2011 and assumed leadership of TRH and O’Connor in September of 2014. Prior to joining the Bassett Medical Group, Rule served as Vice President of Medical Affairs and Executive Vice President of A.O. Fox Hospital for five years.

“My experiences at Bassett, Fox and as CEO of O’Connor and TRH have been extremely rewarding,” said Rule. “I am particularly proud of the collective achievements of the staffs at O’Connor and TRH; they work tirelessly on behalf of our patients and the Delhi and Sidney communities. It is through their efforts and the resources of the Bassett Healthcare Network that we are able to meet the needs of the population we serve.”

In his new role, Rule will provide executive leadership of Ellis Medical Group, a 250-member provider group associated with Ellis Medicine in Schenectady.
