Dissenting residents and businesses in Oneonta's sixth ward against the proposed Rehabilitation Support Services' low-income housing project for that ward, got their way.  New York State denied funding for the proposed housing development which had a plan to build 64 units, some of which would be slated for people in recovery from substance addiction.

Back on October 17, 2018 at a City of Oneonta Planning Commission meeting, RSS revealed its development plan.  All Sixth Ward residents attending the meeting opposed the project.

On May 22nd, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced six organizations in The Southern Tier which would receive $21.3 million in tax credits and low-interest loans from the New York State Homes & Community Renewal’s 2018 Unified Funding applications.  The RSS project was not among the recipients.
