Police Chase in Grand Gorge Ends in Arrest
A Grand Gorge Man has been arrested by New York State Police at Sidney. On September 3, 35-year-old Vincent A. Palmisano Jr., of Grand Gorge was driving in Grand Gorge and was recognized as an unlicensed driver by a trooper. When that officer attempted to pull Palmisiano over, instead of pulling over at the Sunoco gas station, he sped off down Route 23, leading the trooper to pursue him. After driving down several streets in town, Palmisano ended up driving into someone's yard, and leading police on a foot chase. The trooper was accompanied by his K9 partner in the chase, who ultimately stopped the suspect with a non-serious bite and arrested. Palmisano refused hospital treatment and was remanded without bail to the Delaware County Jail.
Palmisano has been charged with Driving While Intoxicated (with three previous convictions) and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the first degree. He was also charged with the misdemeanors of Unlawfully Fleeing from a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle, Reckless Driving and Resisting Arrest. Palmisano did have a passenger in the vehicle with him during the police pursuit. That person was issued a ticket for Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.
