Those who want to buy a hunting, fishing, or trapping license in the Empire State need to plan ahead.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has announced it will be shutting down it's computer license system for a couple of weeks to do some upgrades and changes.

People interested in getting a hunting, trapping or fishing license have until December 26th to apply. During that time hunters will not be able to report a harvest.

The DEC has a contract with the current company until the end of the year.
