Pet Of The Week — ‘April’
UPDATE: April has been adopted!
Meet the Susquehanna SPCA “Pet of the Week” – her name is “April”. Each week on Tuesday mornings at 8:30 am on Classic Hits 103.1fm, Leslie Ann hosts Allison Hungerford, licensed Vet Tech at the Susquehanna SPCA, who tells us all about a special dog or cat at the shelter looking for its forever home.
This week we are going to feature April, a female cat who is just 6 days shy of her first birthday (estimated age). It would be SO wonderful to find her furrever home in time for her special day! When April first came into the shelter, she exhibited many of the characteristics of a feral cat; hissing at people when they came near her, growling, and even striking at people when they came too close. Because of this, The SQSPCA staff was considering adopting her out as a working cat, but one of their staff members was able to form a special connection with her. She took April home with her to foster for about a month, and April's personality truly blossomed. April showed the staff member her playful, affectionate, and lovable side which is truly remarkable!
April is still shy when she first meets new people and is pretty timid in the busy shelter environment, the hope is that someone will give her the chance to show them the kitty she really is in her new home. This beautiful girl has shown tremendous progress in such a short time at the shelter and she'll make the best companion for someone. In the meantime, she is hanging out in the SQSPCA office space where it is a bit quieter - she makes a stellar office cat! April's adoption fee is free due to a partial sponsorship with the rest of the cost of adoption waived since she is the longest cat in residence currently at the shelter.
