Perfect Day For the Annual Chenango Lake Perch Derby

More than 300 people turned out for the 16th Annual Chenango Lake Perch Derby Saturday.

Organizers say it was a perfect day for ice fishing as the sub-zero temperatures warmed quickly.

NBT Bank sponsored a $1,000 prize for the fisherman who caught the first perch of the day, along with other prizes for the largest perch and pickerel.

The annual event is sponsored by the Oxford Lions Club which uses funds raised for their many community projects.

The event usually draws hundreds more, but this year's derby was the same day as the popular Broome County Crappie Derby in Whitney Point.
