During the summer months families find that their food budgets are especially strapped.  Children that take advantage of school breakfast and lunch programs are home and families need more groceries.  Local food pantries are feeling the strain.

The Salvation Army Food Pantry, in Oneonta is in desperate need of donations.  Two hundred and fifty families were assisted last month alone.  In one day, twenty seven families came in for help.  Here is a list of goods needed:

Cereal, Potatoes (instant or canned), Peanut Butter, Juice, Spaghetti sauce, Macaroni, and Spaghetti.  Non perishable food items.

Items can be brought to 25 River Street in Oneonta.  Or if you prefer, you can make a monetary donation.  Be sure to write Food Pantry on the check.
