Morey's Family Restaurant which was located on Route 7 in the east end of Oneonta, NY, after being sold to the owner of the Plaza Diner in the Clinton Plaza, Taki Karabinis, has been undergoing renovations to make way for the diner.

Karabinis closed the Plaza right after Mother's Day to make the big move into the Morey's location. If you noticed a large dumpster out in front of Morey's recently, that's because renovations have been going on to make way for the Plaza Diner to take over the restaurant. Don't expect miniature dollhouse items. That's all gone with the former owner of Morey's. The restaurant will have a new look when it reopens. A tentative reopening date is this Saturday, May 21 according to The Daily Star but that's only if everything gets done on time. We all know that renovations, especially during the pandemic can take longer than expected. The diner's owner plans to inform everyone on The Plaza Diner Facebook page when the confirmed reopening date is. The diner will be serving up Mediterranean and American Cuisine.

We'll all miss Morey's Family Restaurant and its fun miniatures but it seems only right that The Plaza Diner, with a long-established Oneonta restauranteur, expand by moving into that building.

Look: Stunning Mural Transforms Oneonta, NY Eyesore Into Eye Candy

A building that the City of Oneonta plans to demolish, and one of Oneonta, NY's biggest eyesores, has been getting a major makeover thanks to artist James R. Mcilroy, owner of Wolfhound Studio which is a tattoo and art studio at 269 Main Street, Oneonta. Mcilroy has been creating murals on the side of the former Oneonta Sales building on the corner of Market St. and Chestnut St. Extension - a building formerly used as storage by the Twelve Tribes group in Oneonta. Now, instead of focusing on the ugliness of this horrible structure, the eye is drawn instead to the beauty of Mcilroy's artwork. Talk about a transformation!
