Oneonta Bill Would Provide Tax Exemptions for Housing Investors
State Senator James Seward has announced final legislative approval of a bill he sponsored authorizing the City of Oneonta Common Council to provide tax exemptions for those investing in the city’s housing stock.
Senator Seward’s bill follows a home rule request from the City of Oneonta. The legislation will allow the city to provide property tax abatement to homeowners who convert multiple dwelling buildings to an owner-occupied single family home or two-unit home.
Companion legislation sponsored by Assemblyman Bill Magee also passed in the assembly.
The bill will be sent to the governor for his consideration.
