NYS Expands Energy Efficiency Program
New York has expanded an initiative designed to improve energy efficiency in commercial buildings, including office buildings, hotels, universities, hospitals and retail stores. The Real Time Energy Management Program received another $12 million in state money for the program which continuously monitors real-time data of a building’s energy use and transform it into actionable information. The data can pinpoint a building’s operational inefficiencies to help identify conservation measures and help justify capital improvements. According to officials about 60 percent of greenhouse gas emissions in New York come from buildings.
