It’s speed week in New York – the week when State Police conduct an enforcement initiative to crack down on speeding and aggressive drivers. It started Thursday and runs through June 13.

Last year State Police issued more than 21,000 traffic tickets with nearly half of those for speeding and hundreds more for distracted driving. Troopers will be using both marked and unmarked State Police vehicles as part of the operation.
