According to the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, eligible New York taxpayers will receive a one-time-check worth approximately $250. The best part is that you don't have to fill out forms, make calls or anything. The State will automatically send you the amount owed to you.

Are you eligible for the tax relief? If you received at least $100, for tax year 2021, for either the Empire State child credit or the earned income credit you could be getting a check. Another consideration is, did you file on time (April18, 2022) or have a valid extension of time to file.

Checks are being mailed out this month and the majority of payments will have been completed by October 31, 2022. If you haven't received your check by November 1st, the State may still be processing your check. Your check will be sent as soon as your return is processed.

If you still did not receive a check it could be that the State disallowed your claim for earned income or Empire State child credit. The State may also have adjusted your New York State earned income credit or Empire State child credit to an amount less than $100. For more click HERE.
