According to Automotive.com, 61% of car owners name their vehicles.  This is something that I have not done in a long time.  My first couple of cars had names and I admit talking to them as though they understood.  My first car was handed down from my middle sister.  It was a Ford Fairmont with a royal blue pinstripe.  It wasn't as nice and shiny as the one pictured above but she was special.  Fred, totally rocked!  I think we called it Fred because that was my sister's nickname.  Fred only had a radio, no fancy tape player.  So I had a boom box in the front seat and cranked the tunes.

My second car was handed down from my oldest siblings, my brother and sister, who are twins.  It was a Buick and we called her Marilyn.  Many miles were traveled from Keuka College and back in that car.  She was a trooper.  I drive her for about two months not realizing the power steering had gone.  I thought it just turned hard.

The most popular name given to cars, according to the survey is, Beast.  Other popular names are Christine, Silver Bullet, Bat mobile, and Big Red.  My favorite name that made the list was, Tow Bait.

I stopped naming my cars a while back.  Maybe it is because I starting buying new cars that didn't need any coaxing to run right.  I am very fortunate that I no longer have to pet the dash and talk pretty to get the engine to start.  Although I was pretty good at it.
