Man Arrested For Burglary In Oneonta
UPDATE 11/21/23: The charges mentioned in the article below were ultimately to be determined as violations by the Oneonta City Court. Each violation was conditionally discharged and the case was sealed, clearing the suspect of charges.
At about 12:55 AM Monday, members of the Oneonta Police Department responded to a report of a residential burglary in progress on Elm St. in the City of Oneonta. Upon arrival, the officers were met outside by the homeowners who reported that the suspect was still inside the residence. At that time the officers discovered a man exiting the house through a first floor window. Officers said the male physically resisted as they took him into custody. The male was later identified as a 21 year old man. The subsequent investigation revealed that the man allegedly had entered the residence through the back door after breaking two windows. Police say the man attempted to exit the residence by climbing out of a first-floor window damaging the window screen in the process. He was charged with 2nd degree burglary a class C Felony, 3rd degree criminal mischief, a class E felony and the class A misdemeanor of resisting arrest.
