The Friends of Schenevus Lake, a non-profit group are behind the revitalization of the property. Member Steve Barton said: "The Friends of Schenevus Lake was formed three years ago.  Our group collects tax deductible donations which we use to fund recreational programs and capital projects at Schenevus Lake Park and the surrounding area. Donations to The Friends of Schenevus Lake Inc. have allowed us to purchase two picnic tables and materials for a camp stove that have been installed in the field above the beach parking lot.  We have also been able to purchase all the equipment and supplies needed for the park beach."

Schenevus resident Elijah Reed has recently completed his Eagle Scout project by installing a new lifeguard rest shack on the beach at Schenevus Lake Park. This new facility provides a secure place for lifeguards to store their personal belongings, manage swimming program paperwork, and keep beach equipment safe. The lake's recreational swimming program has resumed after a ten year absence.
