Crews from the City Of Oneonta are currently working to extinguish a fire that has broken out above the Oneonta Theater on Chestnut Street.

First responders were unsure of injuries as of 1:30pm. According to scanner traffic, the fire was knocked down at 1:19pm.

The Daily Star reported that the resident of the apartment was on her way out of the building when she heard an explosion. At the time, she believed that her brother might still be inside.

As of 6:30pm, the scene was still under investigation, and Chestnut Street was still closed from Main Street to Wall Street. Neighborhood residents described what appeared to be a medical examiner's vehicle at the building earlier in the evening.

This is a developing story, and we will update you as details become available.
