‘Drunk’ Man Slaps Teen Girl Working as Disney World Cast Member After He’s Denied Entry to Restaurant
A 64-year-old Disney World guest was arrested for assaulting a teenage girl working as a Cast Member after he was denied entry to a restaurant on property.
On Nov. 19, 2023, the man and his family went to dine at the Grand Floridian Hotel's Citricos restaurant at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Fla.
The man showed up for their reservation intoxicated while wearing swim shorts and a T-shirt, which goes against the restaurant's dress code.
When a 19-year-old female Cast Member informed him he could not sit with his family unless he adhered to the dress code, he told her it was OK and that he would just wait with them while they prepared their table. However, when their table was ready, he attempted to join his family.
According to the police report, one of his family members told the Cast Member, “Please don’t allow him to sit with us. He is really drunk, under-dressed. It’s my birthday and I’m embarrassed!” The unidentified cast member told the man once again that he could not eat with his family.
The man then reportedly slapped the teenage Cast Member three times across her forehead as she “stood in shock while she held onto the restaurant menus with both hands.”
The Orange County Sheriff's Office was called and officers arrested the man as he “constantly repeat[ed] that he was going to sue Disney.” The following morning he was released on a $1,000 bond and charged with a misdemeanor battery. He pleaded not guilty.
According to a report from The Island Packet, the man was identified as John Munro, the vice president of hospitality, sales, and marketing for Hilton Head’s Sea Pines Resort in South Carolina.
A spokesperson for the resort confirmed to the outlet that Munro was placed on administrative leave “amid review of this personnel matter.”
Citricos is an upscale dining establishment with a strict dress code, and is one of the more difficult restaurants to get reservations for in Disney World.
According to the restaurant's website, “Guests are expected to dress accordingly in attire that respects the restaurant’s sophisticated and upscale aesthetic. Clothing should be clean, neat, and in good condition. Please no swimwear.”
